My name is Claire Huzzey. I am an Accredited Integrative Counsellor and Supervisor based in Hornchurch. Offering you face to face, online, telephone counselling and walk and talk.

I am a warm and non-judgemental therapist, offering to help you work through any areas you bring to our sessions. My aim is to led by you and your needs. I believe that given the right environment you hold the answers to your freedom.

You are on my page because something in your life has become challenging and you need some support and someone to talk to. I can be that person you need right now. We can work through the difficulties in your life and find a solution together so you can feel relieved, at peace, and ready to enjoy life. You are not alone.

My belief is that everyone is an individual and our lives are unique. Our perceptions on things we have experienced are unique to us.  For this reason I wanted to be an integrative counsellor. So I can adapt my counselling skills to the person I am working with, rather than the counselling theory needing to fit the person.

Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives.

My approach

My beliefs are that there isn’t just one therapeutic approach that can help in all situations. Taking into account you as an individual, your circumstances, and use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems. I adapt my counselling skills, combining theories and techniques to suit your needs.

Through using the three main forces in psychology, Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamics. By adapting my counselling skills and combine the theories and techniques to suit your needs. This may include mindfulness, guided visualisations and creative counselling techniques.

If you have never been to counselling before you will not know what to expect. You may be curious as to whether my theoretical model and style will fit with you. If you are worried that I will sit there staring at you for an hour, whilst you do all the work then don’t worry. That’s not me, my style is more interactive and collaborative.

Serenity Counselling Service was founded as a counselling practice in 2017. Based at Fairkytes Arts Centre. I also offer walk and talk at Langtons Gardens, online and telephone counselling from where ever you are.

Note on Diversity

Welcome – I’m so glad you’re here.

I offer warm, welcoming service to all, whatever your background. As a cis-gendered white woman I know that I don’t represent every aspect of our wonderfully diverse country and I cannot possibly know everything about every race, culture, religion, sexuality, gender, neurodivergence or disability, or any other aspect of difference that makes you, you. Any label that is given to you is just that, a label. Whilst those labels can and do feel important, they cannot adequately or accurately describe the unique human being that you are.

What I offer is to be curious without expecting you to teach me, to go away and research things I don’t know about to improve my knowledge, and above all, to treat you with the utmost respect and unconditional positive regard whatever it is that you come for therapy for. I will always act in good faith, and if I fail to understand any aspect of your way of being, I will gratefully and graciously accept feedback.

My passionate aim is to create the most inclusive practice that I am able to provide, and I will continuously strive to improve and update my knowledge for the rest of my life and career

I am committed to creating an inclusive environment where you can feel seen, heard, and supported.
