With the ever changing world that we are currently living within. I am offering alternatives to face to face counselling of online or telephone counselling. Here is some information about the options for you. If the way you initially have chosen to work doesn’t feel right for you, we can look at other options for you. I am trained in both online and telephone counselling and I am able to offer you the flexibility to choose the technology you feel is best suited for you.
All of the different ways I can work with you will always be held in a confidential safe space for you to be able to talk and express yourself, within your therapeutic hour of 50 minutes.
Online counselling and telephone counselling can be done within the safety of your own home or where ever your safe place is. Therapy can be at a time, place and pace that suits you for example it can be done within a work lunch break or after work. Through working online or telephone you can have the option of having a counsellor who is out of your area and that is able to suit your needs rather than being suck by location and distance to travel to.
I recommend you to use a private, safe and quiet space in which to carry out your online or telephone counselling which will help you to feel safer for you to explore any difficult issues. I work from a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space to be able to create a safe space for you to be able to talk and to express yourself, for example I always use headphones so that I am the only person who will be able to hear you.
Telephone and online counselling can help with many of the same issues as face to face counselling, such as anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem and confidence issues, loss and family relationship problems. But it’s not suitable for everyone, if you would like to explore further what you would like to do if it does not work we have many alternatives to try, I am flexible and open minded in where and how I work, it is important that you feel safe and comfortable to explore what is going on for you.
Online Counselling Can help for us to be able to see each other from where you want to work from for example from the comfort of your home or from your workspace. Online counselling is carried out via secure and encrypted web platforms, you can work from your computer, tablet or phone. Just like telephone counselling you’ll need a private safe space to have your counselling session. Through online counselling I am able to share and show information and interventions through the online platform by for example screensharing we can also work creatively online, where I have the items in the room to work face to face you may need to bring paper and pens for your session for your side of the screen. If there is a problem with working online for example if there is an issue with internet that we can transfer to continue on the telephone.
When working online if it is possible I encourage you to use a personal private password protected computer or device and private e-mail address for our therapeutic exchanges and I will do the same. Virus and spyware definitions are regularly updated on my computer, I ask that you carry out similar safety precautions on your own computer.
Telephone counselling works on the same principle other than we cannot see each other. Some people find it easier and more comfortable to express themselves and can have an extra feeling of being anonymous through using the telephone.
Something to consider if you would like to work on the telephone how do you feel about not having any visual cues such as no body language or facial expressions? However non-verbal communication can be carried in your tone of voice or the pace of speech which can be picked up within the session.
Contact me for more information, within the free telephone consultation we can talk about what type of counselling will suit your needs. We have the option to change the setting if you would like to try a different way to have your counselling session.
